A Microlight aircraft is a 3 axis control aircraft, with a seating of 2 & the max ‘Authorized All Up Weight (AUW) of 450 Kgs. Due to its light weight it is called a “Microlight Aircraft”., otherwise there is no difference between a Microlight aircraft and a conventional 3 axis aircraft, as far as controls and performance is concerned.
The controls of a Microlight aircraft are very light to operate. On the microlight aircraft, one can see the control linkages and how they operate and with what effect. Also, visibility from the Cockpit is extremely good and one has a very good and clear view all around and below the aircraft. All these attributes of Microlight aircraft add up to making learning to fly much cheaper, faster and easier to learn & to understand the basics of flying, as compared to learning flying on a conventional aircraft.
Over a period of time, it has also been found, that in a given situation, a person with some flying (10 – 15 Hrs) on Microlight aircraft has a great advantage over others, who do not have that experience.
